The theme of the boot camp is “No Boundaries” and students from across Southwestern Ontario will be challenged to write, shoot and edit a mini-documentary under the guidance of instructors and mentors from London’s Fanshawe College.
The workshops are the educational component of the annual Stratford Documentary and Digital Media Festival (DocFest Stratford) which takes place from Thursday October 22nd to Sunday October 25th with public screenings of more a dozen top documentaries from Canada and around the world.
“One of the goals of DocFest Stratford is to inspire the next generation of content creators in our region and give them the skills they need to tell their own stories,” says Craig Thompson, Executive Producer of DocFest Stratford. “We are excited to be playing a part in the growth of the creative economy in Southwestern Ontario.”
The digital media boot camp is open to senior high school students who have an interest in subjects ranging from media arts to drama. The workshops will be limited to 150 students per day and registration information will be posted at www.docfeststratford.ca.
The Digital Media program at Stratford Central was chosen as a provincial launch site based upon evidence of an established program, strong community and post secondary educational partnerships.
